NGC XF Roman AE of Licinius II AD 317- 324 EXTREMELY FINE NGC Ancients Certified
NGC (XF) Roman AE of Licinius II (AD 317- 324). Licinius I, the Eastern Emperor of Rome, played the roles of both partner and rival to Constantine the Great. His marriage to Constantine's half-sister, Constantia, not only prevented internal strife but also set the stage for one of Constantine's significant achievements-the Edict of Milan, which sanctioned Christianity within the Empire. Eventually, Licinius I met his demise by hanging on the orders of his brother-in-law, following his defeat at the Battle of Chrysopolis. Licinius the Younger (Licinius II) was spared initially due to his family ties with Constantine. However, he later became implicated in a plot against his first cousin, Crispus, leading to his execution in 326. Higher Condition (XF) Very Fine. Certified, Graded and Encapsulated by NGC.
