NGC (VF) Roman AE2 of Honorius (AD393- 423). Son of Theodosius I, Honorius was born in AD 382. When Theodosius died, in January 395, Honorius and Arcadius divided the Empire, so that Honorius became Western Roman emperor at the age of ten. Despite reigning for three decades, the rule of Honorius is generally regarded as terrible and chaotic. In 410 Rome was sacked for the first time in 8 centuries and by 476 the Western Roman Empire would fall completely.
